I was looking for some good restaurants in Yeonnamdong because thats where our AirBnB was next to. They have been doing construction in Yeonnamdong for ages! They have been turning the old tracks to what's now Gyeongui Line Forest Park. It is just a great place to chill with your friends on a cozy afternoon and grab a coffee from any of the cafes by the park.
I stumbled to this cute little Hanok-themed restaurant named Permil, but don't judge a book by it's cover. It's actually a pizza + pasta kind of restaurant. They kept the exterior and most of the interior of the Hanok and built a sunroof creating a Modern + Traditional look. I think it was a good and quiet place for lunch with the sunlight coming down as natural light.
Their house bread tasted delicious, I believe they make it fresh in the restaurant every morning. We ordered a carbonara pasta and manzo pizza. The manzo pizza was actually steak that comes out in a heated plate and tortilla on the side. You were suppose to "make your own" pizza by putting the toppings on the tortilla. The carbonara sauce was almost like a soup, it was not thick enough. The steak was itself good and flavorful, but the idea of making your own pizza wasn't so good, at least I think so. They also named it wrong because using a tortilla definitely does not make it a pizza.
Overall, the restaurant offers a good atmosphere and decent food. I would recommend it to my friends who would like to try western dishes in a traditional Korean Hanok setting. The experience itself is worth the visit.
