CAKED LA - MONTEREY PARK, CA

There's a big hype with unicorn, rainbows and all that colorful things in general lately. So when I saw this on Instagram, I knew I had to make a visit. The store interior is modern and the wall is totally there for you and your social media needs. This actually used to be a bakery named Kelley's, from what other people say it seems they still keep a lot of their pastries. When I arrived it was near closing time and it didn't seem like there was many options for cakes or other baked goods. So of course I just got what I came for, the Unicorn drink!

They have three special drinks which are the signatures of the store: Pink unicorn milkshake, blue unicorn milkshake and the rainbow crush. The price is steep at $10 but that's the reason I came, so I can't complain. I was actually quite full and that cup looks really big, so instead of the unicorn drink with milkshake, I got the rainbow crush which looks just as amazing and less heavy. The taste of the drink, however, was another story. It was a gradient color of purple and pink (my two favorite colors) with one of them being the syrup. On top of the drink, there were candy, marshmallows, gummies, whip cream and lollipop. So unless you eat all of those first, it's kind of hard to stir your drink to mix the flavor well. So I drank it just like it was presented to me, and it tasted horrible.

We kind of forced ourselves to drink the drink so we will not waste our money. From the watery artificial taste to suddenly a burst of syrup, I dare say this is one of the worst drinks I ever had. Not to mention the whip cream will eventually get dissolved in your drink too, which is nasty because this is not a milk based drink.

Overall, I will never come back here for their drinks. However, it seems like their pastries were not bad. Especially the fact they sell a Unicorn theme cake, which looks amazing! I totally want that for my next birthday haha.
