BRUXIE - BREA, CA

As far as chicken and waffles go, I heard good things about Bruxie. I was taking my scuba diving license in Brea last weekend and it was just the right time that I came to try this place everyone has been talking about. I ordered the Original which consist of Seasoned Breast, Chili Honey, and Cider Slaw as a Waffle sandwich.

The texture of the waffle and the chicken does not disappoint. The waffle was crispy on the outside and soft on the side. It acted as a great 'bread' for the chicken. The chicken was fried just right on the outside and still very juicy on the inside. However, what was disappointing for me was the taste of the whole thing. I can barely taste the chili honey flavor. If I had some salt and paper next to me, I would've gave my sandwich a few shakes. I was expecting great things, but I was a little disappointed by the flavor for the sandwich. I do want to go back and give it another shot though. Since the texture of the waffle and chicken was quite good, but it was just an exception for the flavor this time.

Overall, next time when I go back, I will try a more loaded sandwich. Maybe that will kick up it's flavors.
