Back a few years ago when cronut was a craze (it still kind of is in Dominique Ansel Bakery in NYC), Taiwan also came up with a cronut cafe. Except they call it the croissant donut here since cronut is already copy righted. Since I couldn't make a visit to Dominique Ansel at that time, Drip Cafe was where the place where I had my first "croissant donut" ever. Although I waited around 2 hours at their location in Songshan Cultural Creative Park (first store) for this, it was amazing and I fell in love. It was worth it.

Since then Drip Cafe opened a lot of locations all over Taipei. This time, I thought I would bring my friend to try the amazing-ness that I had last time. We visited the location near Zhongxiaodunhua station in Da'an district which was actually within the walking distance of our hotel. We were pretty full after our omakase lunch, so we decided instead of the regular sized croissant donut, we got the mini. And it was just the perfect portion for us!

We chose the Bubble Tea Mini Croissant donut, it comes with milk tea custard, tapioca and milk ice cream. The cronut had a crispy/crunchy shell with a warm center, it was perfect to eat it with the ice cream; hot and cold. The texture of the tapioca was also perfect and goes well with the cronut. Since I have been eating a lot of oily food in Taiwan I got a carrot (and other vegetable) juice to reduce my guilt. Drip cafe seems to make everything with great quality! My friend said this was the best dessert she have eaten in Taiwan and I was glad I introduced her to this world of yummy-ness.

I wish Drip Cafe was more available everywhere! Now I have to wait until my next Taiwan trip to eat it!
