BOBA GUYS - SAN FRANCISCO, CA

In the east coast, we call it bubble tea. But in the west coast, it's boba. People raved about the boba at Boba Guys in San Francisco, this time I got to see what it's about. I am not impressed, I think they are popular due to the limited choices of boba offerings in San Francisco and they have healthy/organic choices and different options of milk, such as soy and almond milk. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying they are bad, they are alright, but it was definitely not worth the 20 minutes of wait at the Fillmore location on a Saturday evening.

We got the signature Strawberry Matcha Latte, Jasmine Milk Tea and Classic Milk Tea. I wanted to adjust the sweetness to my strawberry matcha, but apparently they told me the sweetness is fixed for that drink, so I just went along. But when they gave me the drink, the amount of strawberry syrup was reduced. I know the strawberry is what gives the drink its sweetness, so I guess they reduced it because I said I want less sugar. But at the same time, they told me the sweetness cannot be adjusted, so I was really confused and disappointed because I wanted more strawberry in my drink. It tastes not as good without that strawberry.

The other drink we tried was jasmine milk tea with 100% sugar, but in my opinion, it tasted not sweet at all. Maybe that's why people like it because it seems more healthy. BUT ME! I WANT MY SWEET BOBA! Boba itself is already not healthy, why bother pretending. If you want to be healthy, then you shouldn't drink boba, period! My friend got the classic milk tea with 0% sugar. We already thought jasmine milk tea with 100% sugar was not sweet enough, imagine the classic milk tea with 0% sugar, that was gross.

We also tried the popcorn in the Fillmore location, the taste was good but the size of those chicken pieces was tiny! I think there were barely chicken meat in there but more fried dough. I would not recommend it if you are looking for some good chicken. On a side note, we did go to another location and ordered the strawberry matcha again. This time it was done right! It will always be my go-to and favorite drink at boba guys.
